India's wearables market ships record 14.9 mln units in 2019

The India wearables market completed another record year as device shipments grew 168.3 percent in 2019 to 14.9 million units, according to data from IDC. Basic wearables continued to dominate the market with a 96.2 percent category share and shipments up 177 percent year-on-year in 2019. Smart wearables which can run third-party applications on the device itself represented 3.8 percent of the overall wearable shipments in 2019 and registered 49.5 percent growth from the previous year.
