Ingram Micro profit lower on restructuring costs, flat sales

Distributor Ingram Micro reported first-quarter sales of USD 10.4 billion, up 1 percent from a year earlier. The company said strong growth in Europe and Latin America was partially offset by lower handset sales in its new mobility business in Indonesia. The gross margin still improved to 5.88 percent from 5.70 percent a year ago, helped by recent acquisitions, such as SoftCom, CloudBlue and Shipwire. Operating profit fell to USD 68.4 million from USD 90.8 million in the year-earlier period, hurt by charges for the restructuring announced in February. Net profit dropped to USD 24.8 million or
