Inmarsat rivals seek injunction against EAN licences

Wednesday 5 July 2017 | 14:49 CET | News
ViaSat, Eutelsat and Panasonic have lodged a complaint with the European Court of Justice seeking an injunction against Inmarsat's proposed in-flight internet service. After the launch of the needed satellite last week, Inmarsat plans to switch on the European Aviation Network (EAN) by the end of the year, after it gains clearance from national telecom regulators. Its rivals claim the company is mis-using its licence for S-band spectrum, received in 2009.
