Internet becomes second advertising media in Brazil

Internet has surpassed newspapers and is already the second-biggest advertising media in Brazil, just behind free-to-air TV. According to figures from IAB Brasil, internet accounts for 12 percent of the total ad market. In the first three months of 2012, internet ad spending reached over BRL 840 million, of which BRL 512 million was search and BRL 330 million display. In 2011, these figures were respectively BRL 1.88 billion and BRL 1.45 billion. The IAB estimates that internet will close the year with a 13.7 percent share of the ad market.
