IoT device shipments to reach 1 bln by year-end - ITU

Revenues from the Internet of Things (IoT) will reach USD 1.7 trillion by 2019, to become the largest device market worldwide, according the Trends in Telecommunication Reform 2015 report by the ITU. A total of 1 billion different kinds of wireless Internet of Things devices will be shipped this year, up 60 percent from the year before, to reach a predicted installed base of 2.8 billion connected devices by year-end. Wearable devices reached 109 million by the beginning of this year. Up to 25 billion networked devices will be connected by 2020, driven largely by consumer-connected entities
