IoT, VR to push global ICT spending to USD 5.6 trillion in 2021 - study

New technologies including the Internet of Things (IoT), robotics, augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR) and artificial intelligence (AI) are set to drive worldwide information and communications technology (ICT) spending from USD 4.3 trillion in 2016 to USD 5.6 trillion by 2021, according to a report from IDC. Although traditional ICT spending will lag GDP growth by 2020, total ICT spending including these new categories will return to growth rates double that of the global economy, representing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) over the five-year forecast period of 6 percent in constant
