Irish govt selects ownership model for broadband network

The Irish Government has selected the Commercial Stimulus Model as the best ownership model for the National Broadband Plan (NBP) network. Procurement now moves to the next state, with qualified bidders to be invited to negotiations. Under the Commercial Stimulus model (or Gap Funding), the private sector finances, designs, builds, owns and operates the network, with contractual obligations to the Government. The winning bidder(s) will be subject to strict contract provisions to ensure that the network delivers quality, affordable high speed broadband to all parts of Ireland that cannot
