Isle of Wight confirms initial fibre broadband roll-out

The Isle of Wight council has announced the first communities to benefit from the multi-million pound rural fibre broadband partnership between the council and BT. Work to connect the first rural communities on the Isle of Wight will commence shortly, allowing some customers to place orders for high speed fibre broadband as early as the summer. The first communities to benefit from the project include parts of Shalfleet, Gurnard, Whippingham, Brighstone, Shorwell and Merstone. The project is scheduled to be completed by autumn 2015 and aims to connect around 20,000 premises to high-speed
