ISPA, ORG respond to draft Investigatory Powers Bill

The UK's Internet Services Providers' Association (ISPA) said it supported the draft Investigatory Powers Bill as it tries to simplify the complicated web of existing laws governing this area. ISPA believes that law enforcement should have reasonable access to data and welcomed moves to modernise and clarify the law. Separately, the Open Rights Group (ORG) said that the Bill appeared to an attempt by the Government to grab more intrusive surveillance powers and does not do enough to restrain the bulk collection of personal data by intelligence agencies.
