Italian court bans Mega and Mail.ru in piracy crackdown

Two dozen sites that allegedly facilitated the distribution of pirated movies have been blocked in Italy after Roman court judge Constantino De Robbio accepted a complaint from Italian movie distributor Eyemoon Pictures. Italian ISPs were ordered to restrict access to 24 websites including cloud storage providers such as Kim Dotcom's Mega.co.nz, Firedrive (formerly known as Putlocker) and even Russia's largest email provider Mail.ru. Eyemoon claimed that the websites in question distributed two of its movies – "The Congress" and "Fruitvale Station" – ahead of their release in Italian cinemas.
