Italian govt announces first regional broadband deals

Italy's Ministry of Economic Development (MISE) has revealed details of the first agreements reached with three Italian regions on the rollout of a national broadband network. In Tuscany, the ministry will allocate EUR 240 million in funds, including EUR 107.6 million in EU structural funds, to bringing high-speed broadband connectivity to 364,000 households in cluster C and D 'white zones' that have been unable to attract private investment. As a result of the investment, all cluster D zones will be able to access the internet at speeds of up to 30 Mbps, with 70 percent of cluster C zones
