Italian operators strike broadband network deal

Italian telecommunications operators have reached an agreement on technical aspects to build up a high-speed broadband network. This agreement paves the way for a final deal for the deployment of a countrywide fibre-optic infrastructure, Dow Jones reports, citing Paolo Romani, deputy minister for communications. According to Romani, the operators had agreed on the technical model for the transition to fibre from the current copper network. The next step will be a public consultation on existing fibre-optic infrastructure in Italy and investment plans to develop it, Romani added. A new meeting
