Italian PM announces introduction of 'Digital Tax' by 2017

Italian prime minister Matteo Renzi has announced that from 01 January 2017 a 'Digital Tax' will be imposed on large US internet companies for transactions concluded in Italy. "After waiting two years for a European law, from 01 January 2017 we'll introduce a digital tax that uses different mechanisms to impose taxes in the places where transactions are carried out, including agreements for the large business groups that operate on the internet such as Google and Apple," said Renzi in a TV interview on the La7 channel.
