Italian tablets, PCs to be exempted from TV licence

Italian owners of PCs, tablets and smartphones won't have to pay the EUR 100 a year TV licence unless they also possess a radio or television set, reports Ansa, citing Italian undersecretary for economic development in charge of telecommunications Antonello Giacomelli. However, Giacomelli went on to indicate that the measure would only be applied "for the time being." The government has already announced plans to cut the licence fee to EUR 100 from EUR 113 starting next year and to add it to household electricity and gas bills in a bid to ensure everyone pays. According to Giacomelli, the
