Italy aims to raise EUR 600 mln with L-band auction proposal

The Italian government is aiming to raise EUR 600 million with a proposal to auction the 1452-1492 MHz band, or L Band, for mobile broadband use before the end of 2015. The proposal is part of the country's 2015 budget, approved on 15 October by the cabinet of prime minister Matteo Renzi just hours before an EU deadline. The government has yet to reveal details of how it would proceed to allocate the frequencies in the 1452-1492 MHz band, which was originally reserved for Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB). Italy's budget plan, dubbed the Stability Programme, includes a promise to slash taxes
