Italy allocates EUR 20 mln to stop foreign TV interference

Italy's ministry of economic development has allocated EUR 20 million to resolving the current TV frequency chaos, whereby hundreds of Italian local and national TV channels are interfering with the reception of Maltese, Croatian and Slovenian TV and radio channels. The solution, which has yet to be officially published but has been widely reported in Italian news sources such as Il Sole 24 Ore, involves reimbursing providers for the voluntary release of portions of the frequency spectrum. Any TV stations that continue to interfere with the spectrums of neighbouring countries will be forced
