Italy allocates EUR 62 mln to Puglia superfast fibre rollout

Italy's ministry for economic development (MiSE) has allocated EUR 62 million for the development of a fibre-optic broadband network in the southern Italian region of Puglia. The objective of the tender is to connect 1.48 million residents, 540,000 households and 40 industrial areas in 45 municipalities via some 1,800 Km in cables and the work is expected to provide employment to around 500 workers over the next three years. The areas chosen are those in which the market has shown no interest in making investments and the company that is awarded the tender will have to contribute at least 30
