Italy blocks access to over 5 mln illegal music files

Italy's communications regulator AgCom has blocked access to a total of 15 illegal content platforms containing links to over 5 million music files since the new Italian copyright regulations entered into force a year ago. The figures were included in a statement issued by the Italian Music Industry Federation (Fimi), which welcomed the regulator's actions, claiming it contributed to a 23 percent increase in the legal offer of digital music in 2014, as well as an 80 percent growth in streaming revenues. Under the provisions of the new copyright regulations introduced last year, AgCom has the
