Italy collects over EUR 2 bln in TV licence fees

Thursday 22 December 2016 | 09:41 CET | News
Italy's inland revenue has confirmed that over EUR 2 billion will be raised in 2016 after the government decided to add the TV licence to household electricity and gas bills on 01 July with a view to preventing evasion. The amount raised is over EUR 300 million than the fees collected last year, even though the annual licence fee was reduced to EUR 100 from EUR 113. Italian undersecretary for economic development in charge of telecommunications Antonello Giacomelli last month said the new system had produced results "well above the most optimistic expectations."
