Italy favours voucher scheme to boost broadband take-up

The Italian government's plan to accelerate the development of a national high-speed fibre network approved on 03 March contained a series of new measures introduced during the consultation process. These included a family voucher scheme designed to encourage households to migrate to 100 Mbps broadband. Although the specific details of the scheme will be defined in the final phase of the government's Strategy for Italian Broadband and Digital Growth 2014-20, the incentives will not be applied before 2018, depending on the extension of 100 Mbps broadband throughout Italy.
