Italy high-speed broadband coverage "unacceptable" – Cardani

Italy's position in last place among EU member states in 30 Mbps fixed broadband penetration is "unacceptable for one of the world's major industrial nations," according to Angelo Cardani, the president of Italy communications regulator AgCom. In an interview with Italian daily Corriere della Sera, Cardani said Italy was "bringing up the rear in Europe" in high-speed broadband coverage above 30 Mbps. According to the AgCom president, only 21 percent of Italian households have access to 30 Mbps broadband, compared to an EU average of 62 percent. Cardani attributes Italy's position to the slow
