Italy issues 1 mln digital ID codes for public services

Italy’s digital agency (AGID) has announced that one million digital identity passwords have been issued since the country’s public digital identity system (SPID) was launched nine months ago. The system enables residents and businesses to access hundreds of online public services, above all in the taxation, pension and health care sectors, with a single password. Telecom Italia, Poste Italiane and the InfoCert agency started issuing the free SPID codes in March 2016.
