Italy limits telecom contracts to maximum of 24 months

Tuesday 29 August 2017 | 11:30 CET | News
Telecommunications operators can no longer require consumers to sign up to contracts exceeding 24 months in length, under the terms of Italy's new competition law, reports Corriere delle Comunicazioni. The new law, which entered into force on 29 August after two years in parliament, also requires operators to inform customers when the contract is signed of costs payable when cancelling or migrating their mobile or TV subscription to another operator. In addition, customers can now inform operators of their decision to cancel their contract or change operator by electronic means alone.
