Italy raises EUR 460 mln with L-band auction

Thursday 10 September 2015 | 09:40 CET | News
Italy's ministry for economic development (MiSE) has announced that Telecom Italia and Vodafone have been awarded two 20 MHz frequency lots in the 1452-1492 MHz band, or L-band, for mobile broadband use. The operators were the only two companies that submitted bids after 3 Italia and Wind decided not to take part. The minimum value of each lot was set at EUR 230 million. The proposal to release frequencies in the L-band originally reserved for Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) was part of the country's 2015 budget, approved on 15 October 2014 by the cabinet of prime minister Matteo Renzi.
