Italy to give tax incentives to hotels with free Wi-Fi

Italy's budgetary control committee has given the green light to an amendment proposed by the Democratic Party to give tax credits to hotels that offer free Wi-Fi. According to the amendment, hotels that "make available to their guests a free connection at a download speed of at least 1 Mbps" will qualify for a tax incentive amounting to 30 percent of the cost of the installation over a three-year period. A recent survey found that 86 percent of Italians choose a hotel depending on the availability of free Wi-Fi, while 62 percent of Italian business travellers stay connected for over four
