Italy's Council of Ministers has confirmed that the high-speed broadband decree, a preliminary draft of which was approved last week, will be published without changes in the Official Gazette, paving the way for an accelerated fibre-optic rollout. Italian industry group Assotelecomunicazioni-Asstel had previously expressed concerns about the inclusion of the clause "except if the parties agree otherwise" in the decree, which implemented EU Directive 2014/61 on measures to reduce the cost of deploying high-speed electronic communications networks.
