Italy to prioritise south with EU broadband funds

The Italian government is to prioritise the southern half of the country when allocating EU funds for broadband development. "The priority will be the south," said Graziano Delrio, state secretary to the prime minister's office, when presenting details of the funds available to Italy under the EU's digital partnership agreement. A total of EUR 2.1 billion a year of European structural and investment funds will be spent on broadband development over the 2014-20 period, above all in the so-called convergence regions of Calabria, Campania, Puglia and Sicily.
