Italy's Fastweb fined EUR 4.4 mln for misleading fibre advertising

Fastweb has become the latest Italian operator to receive a hefty fine from antitrust regulator AGCM for misleading advertising in the promotion of its fibre-optic services. The watchdog announced that Fastweb would be fined EUR 4.4 million for the use of misleading advertising slogans that emphasised the exclusiveness of the offer and used the all-encompassing term "fibre" without adequately highlighting geographical and performance limitations that depended on the infrastructure available.
