Italy's Open Fiber launches Padua 1Gbps FTTH service

Monday 29 May 2017 | 09:46 CET | News
The Open Fiber wholesale-only venture of utility giant Enel has announced that the first commercial fibre-optic offers using its network have been launched in the northern city of Padua. The company said the FTTH service is already being marketed via its agreements with Vodafone and Wind Tre after it began rolling out the network at the end of last year, taking advantage of parent company Enel's installation of smart electric meters in the city. A total of 10,000 households have already been connected, enabling internet access at speeds of up to 1 Gbps.
