ITV concerned by BBC Studios proposals

ITV has threatened to launch legal proceedings against the BBC if it moves forward with plans for the BBC production unit to bid for commercial contracts, reports The Telegraph. In a letter to the BBC Trust, seen by the newspaper, ITV accused the corporation of adopting an 'unnecessary and costly approach' to reform and warned that the plans would result in 'use of licence fee funds'. ITV's solicitors warned that a failure to address these concerns would leave the BBC's commercial strategy open to legal challenge on grounds of competition law as well as complaint under the Fair Trading
