ITV to win F1 rights as BBC walks away - report

The BBC is set to withdraw from its coverage of Formula 1 (F1) three years early, with ITV poised to grab the free-to-air rights from next season, Broadcast reports. ITV is understood to be ready to step in to broadcast a selection of race live, covering others with highlights. The BBC has decided to walk away early from its 7-year contract, which was due to expire in 2018, as it looks to cut costs. Sources told Broadcast that the BBC could save up to GBP 60 million a season by walking away from the contract, but will have to pay a termination fee to F1 rights-holder Bernie Ecclestone, which
