I-wood to offer banner ads on Vodafone handsets

Thursday 22 February 2007 | 09:09 CET | News
Dutch mobile marketing group i-wood has agreed to develop banner ads for Windows Mobile phones on the Vodafone Netherlands network. Customers who agree to receive the ads on their display screen will receive extra applications, free information and discounts on their mobile subscription or new phone. The ads will be tailored to the user's preferences based on a profile they fill in and give to i-wood. The banners are synchronised over the i-wood server and changed periodically as the user changes functions on the phone. Advertisers can also make clickable ads with a link to a website or special offer. Vodafone announced it will start with two customised services for business customers in the pharmacy and insurance segments. They will receive free sector information combined with advertising on their phones. The Dutch Insurance Network will provide the content for insurance customers, while a health publisher will supply the pharmacy information. The operator is looking at expanding the service to other segments.
