Japan Display plans more cost-cutting, new management after FY loss

Wednesday 15 May 2019 | 13:22 CET | News
Japan Display Inc reported a net loss of JPY 98.6 billion for its fiscal fourth quarter to March, hurt by an impairment charge of 75.2 billion to write down the value of its Hakusan factory in the face of continued weak demand for smartphone displays. The net loss was smaller than the year-earlier figure of JPY 146.6 billion, as JDI continues to cut costs to weather the poor market conditions. The company also announced a new voluntary retirement programme to shed 1,000 workers and appointed new management.
