Japanese smartphone ad market to grow 36% in 2013

The Japanese smartphone advertising market will grow 36 percent on the year to JPY 116.6 billion in 2013, reports the Nikkei citing data from CyberAgent. The internet ad agency sees it further expanding to JPY 205.6 billion in 2016, more than twice the JPY 85.6 billion of 2012. The 2016 figure is expected to account for 20 percent of JPY 1 trillion plus online ad market that year. E-commerce companies, banks and real estate firms are already using search-linked ads, the mainstream for online advertising via personal computer, on smartphones.
