Jazztel director resigns over phantom credit card scandal

Spanish broadband operator Jazztel has announced that one of its independent directors, Elena Gil, has resigned from the company's board following confirmation of her involvement in the Caja Madrid 'black' credit card scandal. Gil was one of the 83 directors issued with a phantom credit card by the Caja Madrid savings banks, which the directors used to spend freely on personal items without apparent controls. A string of public figures have been forced to resign from their posts after it emerged that they had spent a total of EUR 15 million over a 10-year period. Gil had been an independent
