Juniper calls on mobile device vendors to push green energy

Juniper Research called on mobile device vendors to take the lead and make energy companies provide more green electricity for both the industry and consumers. According to a report by Juniper Research, charging mobile devices will generate more than 13 megatonnes of CO2e (CO2 equivalent) of greenhouse gases per year worldwide by 2019, compared to an estimated 6.4 megatonnes this year. Close to half of the 2019 emissions will come from coal-fired Asian electricity grids, used to power growing smartphone use.
