KDDI certifies Qualcomm LTE IoT modem

Japanese operator KDDI has certified the Qualcomm 9205 LTE IoT modem's capabilities for its 3GPP Release-14 LTE-M network. The Qualcomm 9205 LTE modem features Power Class 5 multi-band power amplifier, and comes with a fully integrated RF front-end. According to Qualcomm, its modem is designed to reduce power consumption by up to 70 percent in idle mode compared to its predecessor, and mainly targets battery-powered IoT devices that need to operate for 10 years or longer in the field.
