KDDI uses Gemalto TSM in NFC-based flight boarding service

French smartcard maker Gemalto is providing its Allynis Trusted Service Management (TSM) service to Japanese mobile operator KDDI for the deployment of commercial NFC airline boarding service. In addition, Gemalto has been delivering its UpTeq NFC Sim to KDDI since March 2012. Launched in October 2012, the service will enable flight boarding for over 37 million passengers who fly with Japan Airlines (JAL) each year. Gemalto's TSM allows KDDI to download the JAL application into the Sim, enabling passengers to tap their mobile phone when required to present their boarding pass. The NFC service

Sounds to me these guys are pretty far from "smartcard makers" only? All over the place it seems.
