KDDI's quarterly revenue slightly declines on decreasing handset sales

Japanese operator KDDI posted revenues of JPY 1.4 trillion for its first quarter of the fiscal year ending 31 March 2021, which represents a decline of 0.3 percent year-on-year, mainly due to a decrease of handset sales revenues despite of an increase of revenue in Life design domain. Operating income grew 13.7 percent to JPY 290.7 billion, mainly due to driven by growth domain such as the Life Design domain and Business Services segment, the company said. Profit jumped 12.2 percent to JPY 182.3 billion, following the increase of operating income.
