Kenya extends SIM registration deadline to 04 January

Thursday 3 January 2013 | 11:01 CET | News
The Kenyan government has extended the deadline for the registration of mobile phone SIM cards to 04 January. Ministry of Information Permanent Secretary Bitange Ndemo told journalists in Nairobi that there are over 6 million SIM cards yet to be registered, despite the expiry of the deadline on 31 December 2012. He said the law is currently at the attorney general's office and will be gazetted on 04 January, and so all mobile SIM card holders are required to register by that date in order to avoid breaking the law.
