Kenyan broadcasting code comes into effect

The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) says the programming code for free-to-air radio and TV broadcasting came into effect on 01 July. Broadcasters must air at least 40 percent local content within the first year of licensing or face a penalty between KES 500,000 and 0.2 percent of their gross revenue. Local content must rise to 60 percent by the fourth year of operations.
