Kenyan consumer body criticises fines for SIM card owners

The Consumer Federation of Kenya (Cofek) has criticised the government's plan to impose a KES 300,000 fine on users of unregistered SIM cards, the Star reported. Cofek secretary general Stephen Mutoro said that if the disconnection is to be conducted by the service providers, one cannot punish subscribers for the providers' failure to act.
