Kenyan govt backs Safaricom plans to use Huawei for 5G network

The Kenyan government will resist pressure to push Safaricom to cut its contract with Huawei for the roll-out of 5G network equipment, Business Daily reported. Joe Mucheru, the Cabinet Secretary for ICT, said that Kenya would not stop the 5G deployment amid tensions between the US and China over Huawei's involvement. The US has been urging its European allies and others not to use Huawei, citing security concerns.
