Kenyan govt to discuss fibre network management with Orange

The Kenyan government and Orange Kenya are due to meet over the management of the National Optic Fibre Backbone Infrastructure (NOFBI). According to the Standard, among the issues set for discussions is the low uptake of the KES 5 billion infrastructure investment, currently estimated to be below 50 percent. In July 2013, Deputy President William Ruto accused Orange Kenya of mismanaging the state-owned fibre optic network that earns the operator KES 250 million in fees annually. Orange Kenya's management of the facility was renewed in July last year in an effort to increase internet
