Kenyan govt to spend KES 15 bln to get schools online

The Kenyan government says it will spend KES 15 billion to fund the project to link public primary schools to the internet, Business Daily reported. The funds will be used to lay infrastructure such as fibre, cables, ICT laboratories, electricity connections and tablets for pupils as well as teacher training under the Digital Learning Project. ICT Secretary Joe Mucheru told Parliament that 1,000 public schools have been selected for the project to start next month and will be co-funded by the United Nations Children's Fund (Unicef).
