Kenyan internet subscriptions rise 15.2% in Q4, mobile accounts for 99%

The total number of internet subscriptions rose by 15.2 percent from 25.7 million in the third quarter to 29.6 million in the fourth to 30 June, according to the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA). The growth was driven by a 15.3 percent increase of in mobile data subscriptions to 29.4 million, accounting for approximately 99 percent of the total subscriptions. The CA attributed the increase to the continued fall in the costs of smartphones coupled with their widespread availability.
