Kenyan mobile money payments rise 11% in H1 to KES 22.14 trln

The value of financial transaction through mobile phones in the first half of 2019 rebounded from 2018's slowdown and grew by KES 215.29 billion, reports Business Daily. Mobile payments reached nearly KES 2.14 trillion in Kenya, up by 11.21 percent, compared with 2018's 6 percent rise to KES 1.92 trillion. Growth in the value of cash deals transacted through mobile phones in the first half of 2018 was the slowest in recent years, an analysis by the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) indicates.
