Kenyan mobile money transactions exceed KES 3 trillion in H1

Kenyan mobile money transactions increased by more than KES 1 trillion to KES 3.26 trillion in the six months to 30 June compared with KES 2.14 trillion in H1 2020 amid the Covid-19 pandemic, according to data from the Central Bank. The increase indicates that it has overcome pandemic shocks to maintain an upward trend as online transactions pick up in the nation. Most of the transactions in the period were done in January, when people moved KES 594 billion on mobile phones, said the bank.
