Kenyan mobile phone subscriptions rise 3.6% in Q3 to March

The number of mobile phone subscriptions in Kenya in the third quarter to 31 March rose by 3.6 percent to 34.8 million from 33.6 million in the previous quarter. The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) said this represents mobile penetration of 85.5 percent. CA's quarterly report for January to March says new subscriptions registered stood at 1.1 million, up from 863,803 registered during the last quarter, representing growth of 34.5 percent. Mobile penetration expanded by 2.9 percentage points from 82.6 percent in the preceding quarter.
