Kenyan mobile subscriptions grow 3% to 44.1 mln in Q1 as Safaricom loses some share to Airtel

The number of mobile subscriptions in Kenya grew by 3.0 percent to 44.1 million in the first quarter ended 31 March from 42.8 million subscriptions reported during the fourth quarter, according to the latest statistics from the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA). Mobile penetration rose to 95.1 percent from 94.3 percent and the net increase in mobile subscriptions was 1.3 million, down from 1.7 million additions Q4.
